Gulf Island's Marine Safari’s exhilarating

WHAT YOU WILL BE EXPERIENCING
The calm waters of Southern Vancouver
Island are in abundance of unique marine
life that is part of diverse ecosystem
found only in the Pacific Northwest.
The waters that we explore are truly a
spectacular playground for thousands of
species of mammals and seabirds and
especially the Orca Whales who are the
main attraction.
Here in the beautiful Pacific
Northwest, there are three distinct
groups of Orca Whales that inhabit our
area. They are known as the Resident,
Transient and the Offshore Orca Whales.
Our Resident Orca Whales are the main
group of whales that we view.
Comprised of groups or pods named by the
letters J, K, and L, the Orca inhabit
the local waters of Southern Vancouver
Island during the months of April to
October. Traveling in groups up to
twenty to sixty Orca Whales in each pod,
our Resident Whales feed primarily on a
rich diet of salmon that are migrating
through our area from the open ocean.
The mammal feeding Transient Orca
Whales, are seen regularly in our
waters, particularly in locations where
colonies of seals and seal lions
inhabit. Traveling in groups up to five
whales per pod, these Orcas are known as
the silent predators.
Our prime location in the Gulf Island's brings us
closer to the usual activities of the
Orcas, allowing us less travel time and
more viewing time! As well, there is
an abundance of other marine wildlife to
see on our tours, including Grey,
Humpback and Minke Whales, Dall’s and
Harbour Porpoises, Seals, Sea Lions,
Bald Eagles, Cormorants, Oyster Catchers
and many other species of marine animal
and bird species found only off Southern
Vancouver Island!
